Rugby World Cup Bid

I wonder if the NZRFU wouldn’t be better off to withdraw its bid for the 2011 Rugby World Cup. It appears impossible to win, with the only speculation being whether it will be South Africa or Japan.

Certainly it is nothing like the London vs Paris Olympics bid where last minute lobbying by heads of government won it for London. Especially when your head of government has said she would rather read a book than watch a game of rugby.

The recent outreach tour by the NZRFU didn’t produce a single firm pledge to vote for us. We may only get one vote in favour!
