Maiden Speeches Day 1
Popped into Parliament yesterday to hear some of the maiden speeches. Not hard to find Mark B’s office as it used to be mine!
Tim Groser and Mark Blumsky both gave their maidens yesterday, and while quite different speeches what I like is that largely both of them spoke about issues they are passionate about. Trade for Tim G and Wellington for Mark B. I’ll link to them once the Hansard is up.
I suspect they were both very happy that one doesn’t heckle during maiden speeches. During other speeches the level of heckling was almost deafening.
Good catch-ups with various people at drinks afterwards upstairs, and then later at the Backbencher. Am looking forward today to seeing if any of the new Electorate MPs thank their predecessors – especially in Tauranga 🙂
