Economic Confidence Plummets
One News had a poll a few minutes ago. They have National 4% ahead of Labour, but NBR on Friday had Labour just ahead. Personally I don’t think there has been much movement politically for any party since the election except sympathy support for the Greens.
The huge change though has been economic optimism vs pessimism. Before the election it was 51% to 28% or a net 23% positive. It is now 24% vs 42% or a net 18% negative.
A 41% movement in net economic optimism is gigantic. The good times may be about to end.
Also of interest is John Key registering 5% as preferred PM. For an unprompted question this is a very good result, and reflects no doubt his good performance over the campaign.
