Brian Connell
I’m not going to comment much on Brian Connell’s comments except to say this is an issue more about Brian, not about any deep split within National. Or even non-deep split.
My only advice to Brian would be to not fall into the trap of thinking he has one of the highest majorities in the country because he is Brian Connell, rather than because he is the National MP and candidate for Rakaia. There are very few MPs who can claim their majority as a personal mandate, rather than a reflection of party support. Brian Neeson found this out the hard way.
Ross Browne has his own advice for Brian.
We also have coverage in the NZ Herald, Dominion Post, and comments from Tony Milne who stood against Brian for Labour.
