Another reasom why TVNZ should be sold

The outcry from TVNZ staff about both their shareholding Ministers dumping on them and saying TV3 is doing a far better job, is just yet another reason why politicians should not own media outlets.

And yet another reason is the potential for mischief with Michael Cullen’s comments that TVNZ News should be more upbeat. I think it is a concern when the person who can decide how much charter funding TVNZ gets, is basically hinting that things well go better for TVNZ if they have more good news stories in their news bulletins. Naturally the Deputy Prime Minister would want to the news to be all happy every day – hence another reason TVNZ should be sold.
