National’s Reshuffle
Ruth Berry has an interesting article speculating on what Don Brash may do with his reshuffle later this week.
The media don’t have the best track record to date of predicting reshuffle results, but certainly some of what Ruth Berry says is highly logical – such as the promotion of John Key, and Bill English staying on the front bench.
There will be a number of things to watch out for. One is the portfolios, and another is the rankings. National, quite sensibly, doesn’t rank it’s entire Caucus (let’s face it you only insult the bottom places) so last time it only ranked 15 out of 27 MPs, and after that they were listed by length of service and alphabetically.
I suspect this time they will rank more than the top 15 – maybe even up to the top 30?
As the article says, it is also unlikely that many of the new MPs will get full portfolios – most will work with senior MPs as associates.
