More constitutional constipations

New Zealand First seem to think if you repeat a lie enough times, people will believe it. I am talking about, of course, their insistence that they are not in Government despite Winston now being Foreign Minister.

They have applied to the Speaker to sit on opposition benches. This would be hysterical if granted – Ministers of the Crown sitting with the Opposition!

Margaret Wilson will be re-elected Speaker as the deals with NZ First and United Future include voting for Labour’s nominee. She will ultimately decide.

The sensible order of parties seating in Parliament, should be:

Government

Labour/Prog 50
NZ First 7
United 3

Total 60

Opposition

Green 6
Maori 4
ACT 2
National 48

Total 60

Plus the Speaker of course.
