A good bus trip
The bus back from Oxford to London yesterday was a very nice one which actually has a few tables and power supplies. So I thought I’d fill up the time by watching the latest episodes of Desperate Housewives from the US.
I’m watching it on the laptop, but with the sound turned down low so as not to disturb other passengers. However as conversation below shows, it did:
Girl: excuse me but is that Desperate Housewives you are watching.
DPF: Yeah, great show.
Girl: Oh I love it also. What episode is it? I don’t recognise it.
DPF: You won’t. It is the first episode of season two, which won’t be out here for six months or more.
Girl: Oh my God. Can I watch it also. Do you mind turning the sound up?
DPF: It might disturb others
Girl: Hey, Emily, Sarah, Megan etc do you want to watch next season’s premiere of Desperate Housewives
Girls: Giggle, yell, excitement
Eventually around a dozen Oxford girls all sitting next to and behind me watching it on my laptop. After episode is shown to much enjoyment:
Girl: So where are you from. You don’t sound English.
DPF: That’s because I’m from New Zealand. Just here for five week’s holiday.
Girls: Oh we’re going out there at Christmas time. The four of us are going out for a month.
DPF: Cool, where are you planning to stay.
Girls: Queenstown, Nelson, Wellington, Rotorua, Auckland and Bay of Islands
DPF: I’m in Wellington. Welcome to visit me when you are over.
Girls: Oh that would be great. And you can show us around, and tell us cheap places to stay.
DPF: I have spare mattresses and couches at my place so no problem to crash there for a few nights.
Girls: Oh that would be the best.
Swapping of phone numbers and e-mail addresses ensured. Yes definitely one of the better bus trips.
