NZ Herald and Tilegate
To my great surprise I could find not a single word in the NZ Herald on the Tilegate story (have to call it something!). Also as far as I know it is not in the print edition (let me know if this is not correct).
Now there is a legitimate difference of views on whether what Taito Field did was “dodgy as hell” (according to No Right Turn) or merely extremely bad judgement.
But I wonder how one could make a news judgement that the story isn’t even worth covering? Perhaps those wanting to know could ask the Editor.
To be fair to the Herald, they did cover the Judith Tizard walkout story. And talking of Judith Phil U reveals that this is not the first time Judith has walked off.
UPDATE: By coincidence, 45 minutes after I blogged this, the NZ Herald put this NZPA story up on ther website.
Incidentially the story passes over some vital details – mainly that the overstayer was being paid around $2 an hour.
