Hobbs in the lead
The Dominion Post today shows Labour and Hobbs with a very significant lead of 16% in Wellington Central on the electorate vote and 19% on the party vote.
Obviously a disappointing result, but the campaign continues with an aim to maximise both the party and the electorate vote.
I wouldn’t take Wellington as a weathervane for the rest of NZ. Many public polls have shown that for example National has had a 10% lead in Auckland yet a 15% gap in Wellington. NZ is not a homogenous country. Nevertheless I doubt anyone is expecting this weekend’s polls to show National 8% ahead again 🙂 so the focus will be on how close it is, and what may happen in the last week.
