Bastards

The NZ Herald will not make freely available anymore stories which are more than seven days old.

This is a major problem for bloggers. I link to around five times as many NZ Herald stories as Fairfax/Stuff ones because their links remain permanent. Now they will last much much shorter than Fairfax. It means that after a week readers will not be able to see the story you are commenting on.

It’s their intellectual property so they have the right to do it. Just a pity to have such a great public resource disappear. It means that I’ll have to quote much more of the actual story in the blog post in future.
