United Future MP quits party
United Future MP Paul Adams has quit United Future to stand as an independent MP, along with his daughter, a former Miss NZ.
Adams was ranked No 10 in the UF list – an unwinnable spot (bar miracles). He is by far the most hard-line of the religious MPs in United Future – he even fasted to try and stop the civil unions law.
This will be very unwelcome publicity for United Future, but on the plus side they will be rid of an MP who was somewhat of a liability.
Late last year he declared that homosexuality “is not genetic, it is a choice”. I’m sure that came as a great relief to the 200,000+ gay NZers – they had chosen to be gay but never knew it.
Frankly good riddance.
