Judge rules against TV3

To my great surprise Justice Ron Young has ruled against TV3, and ruled they must allow both Peter Dunne and Jim Anderton into the Leader’s Debate tonight. This means the time available for the other six leaders will shrink from seven minutes to five minutes.

I think it is a blow against media freedom to have editorial judgement cast aside in this way. WIll you next have a Judge tell the media how much time each leader gets, whether Clark and Brash are allow to answer more questions, whether a time limit on answers is arbitrary or not.

As I joked at a debate today between Mark and Marian, when it was asked who would speak first – “Let’s get a court order to decide”.
