Drivers guilty of some charges

The PM’s drivers and escorts have been found guilty of some charges. I feel very sorry for them – ending up with a conviction for trying to get Helen Clark to her plane on time. Yes they used bad judgement with regard to the speeds they went, but considering the lack of clarity in police procedures, it should have been a warning, not prosecution. Without exception every VIP Driver and DPS officer I’ve known has been a first class person focused on doing whatever is necessary to make life easy for the PM.

I am staggered that Helen Clark, even now, is refusing to comment on the case. She claims she won’t be commenting based on legal advice – now the trial is over, so how can there be a legal impediment to commenting??
