Big Government vs Small Government
Jonathan Milne in the HOS says that Labour is going to pledge a boost in contributions to its Kiwisaver scheme, with the election turning into the starkest choice between big and small government since 1984.
I think this is a point people should remember. Labour wants to not only control how much money you earn (by turning every family into beneficiaries where your income will change depending on government policy) but also want to control your savings by taking money off you and then using it to encourage you to save.
Labour’s vision of Government is one where there is no limits on how much money they take, and what they spend it on. They will, and have, merrily think up 100 ideas a year of new things to spend money on, on your behalf. They will never ever it seems say “Why don’t we give New Zealanders some of their own money back, so they can make those decisions for themselves”.
