Bad News for the Greens
John Armstrong points out that the NBR poll may be worse news for the Greens than Labour.
A number of commentators have said that the Greens may not make 5%, with the Maori Party attracting some support, and the risk of Green supporters voting Labour to keep it up in the polls.
So not only do the Greens face the (at this stage only possible, certainly not probable) elimination from Parliament, but the hopes of a Labour/Green coalition are fading. Rather than the major partner to Labour, the Greens may be one of only four or five parties supporting the Government, if it is even Labour.
The bottom line is can one imagine any Green polices getting passed if it is Winston Peters with the deciding vote?
A Labour/NZ First Government could be even more hostile to the Greens than a National one!
