Another education scandal

The SST has details of a private training institute that offers tutors $100 for each student who finishes its teacher aide course. Wow that is going to result in high quality standards.

Tutors allege entry criteria to the course were ignored, and that they had to accept any student, and pass students who handed in no assignments.

It sounds similar to a story on Close up at Seven on Thursday, where a woman said that Te Wananga had passed her for a course, despite her not completing the work. She tried five times to get removed from the list of those passing, but they refused. I was somewhat surprised other media did not pick up on the story on Friday.
