Take comfort where you can get it
The Australian Labour Party has had little to be happy about lately, as they have almost guaranteed John Howard a five term Government, and in a few months control of the Senate.
So they are claiming as a great victory, winning the Werriwa by-election, saying “it was a strong protest against the Howard Government over rising interest rates, and consolidated Kim Beazley’s leadership of the ALP”.
Only one problem – the by-election was basically uncontested with no Liberal Party candidate.
