Cellphones in Prisons
There are a number of amusing quips one could make about cellphones in prison cells (as indeed I did many years ago when temporarily locked up in Wellington Central Police Station š but all joking aside it is preposterous that a fair number of prisoners are running their crime empires or planning their escapes by using cellphones in prisons.
It can not be that difficult to acquire cellphone detection and/or blocking equipment and flood the prison with it. I really don’t care what the cost is – the lack of such equipment is making prison a joke. I imagine some of the prisoners even have cellphones with Internet access!
This issue has been known about for over five years, but once again the Government seems to be asleep on the job!
