Accused attacked
Most will have seen the attack on the Christchurch man attacked after he appeared in court on a charge of indecently assaulting a girl aged under 12. Assault is of course wrong under any circumstance, and the “prominent New Zealander” has only been charged, not found guilty.
Once again I do wonder at the effectiveness of name supression orders for cases of such public interest. It is not that I don’t think the motive is worthy – to protect the victim – but that NZ is such a small place almost everyone finds out anyway.
I heard the name of the accused two days ago, and I suspect most people have by now. But please do not name the person on this blog, or even drop clever hints about who it is – as they will be deleted.
If it goes to trial, will E! Channel do daily re-enactments like they have been doing for Michael Jackson?
