The article (seriously) alleged that the Republican Party is anti-environment because they believe that the world is about to come to an end (the second coming) and in that case, no need to worry about future generations!

The equivalent here would be the NZ Herald publishing a piece saying that the Labour Party are anti-tax cuts because they are keeping all the money to buy themselves a private space ship to escape the upcoming attack from Mars.
