Sagenz reviews the large number of right bloggers who have dropped out in recent weeks. It’s getting lonely!

don’t mind being called right-wing but I consider myself to be center-left. It’s one of those odd things that if one agrees with any aspect of Bush’s foreign policy then one gets to seen as right-wing. Not uncommon for those centre-left to have a position of 75% agreement with foreign policy but 75% disagreement with Bush’s domestic policy.

Perhaps so Phil U, but when you start a post about the paucity of right-wing blogs in New Zealand you can surely expect those not yet honoured with a spot on Mr Farrar’s exalted links list to try to get as much free publicity as they can…

Good riddance to most of them I say. “Boy’s own” stuff about Iraq and readers going into ass-kissing frenzies. Philosophical masturbation most of it, by people who have never had an original thought in their lives. That’s my humble opinion.

i think there’s quite a high fall off rate for blogs, regardless of politics. one of those many projects that people start with a hiss and a roar but then can’t keep up. how many times have you started a journal that didn’t make it past january for eg.

i don’t think it’s a particularly left or right phenomenon, there are quite a few left bloggers who were around when i started (not that long ago) who haven’t posted for months and months. i’ve started putting asterisks next to the mothballed ones on my blogroll (although it needs updating).

Ruth, I struggle to discern any original thought in your post so perhaps you too could bugger off. Anyway, what’s so special about original thought? Academia is overpopulated with people whose lifetimes are spent paraphrasing, rehashing and plagiarising other people’s original thoughts. Truly genuine original thought is pretty much non existant anyway because whatever you think, some else has already thought of it. So good luck Ruth, may your search for original thought keep you uselessly engrossed until you reach the grave.

Hmmmm, a guy sets up an agregate of Kiwi bloggers at http://www.planetapteryx.org/ and suddenly there all dropping off. Maybe they should shower a bit more so the smell of being cooped up together doesn’t get so unappealing.

Well I have started a couple of blogs over the years, http://no8wire.blogspot.com was good for venting. But pretty much everything I wanted to say is being said by other bloggers, and they say it so well. I get more of a kick from commenting, or contributing to worthy efforts such as this: http://labourscandals.blogspot.com.

Plus commenting on popular sites like this, generates more response. The input from other humans validates my existence and strokes my pitiful ego! ;ob So I get more out of commenting than blogging madly. We can’t all be like DPF

would be greatly appreciated. I have about 44 posts up already, many with sub-points. Its the sort of thich which benefits from a joint effort, as I can’t possibly verify everything myself.

actually sock I thought your politics were sometime a bit wet but I never had the impression you were talking complete biased crap that annoys me in the way that just left, millsy, greg stephens and sometimes nrt do(posting fisk unfisked). That is why the post title is fellow thinking not right thinking. I would admit the final line exhorting right thinking bloggers reveals my views.
but we read (& write) blogs to be challenged intellectually, not to engage in rhetorical masturbation.

Ive often been described as Right, but I see myself as more centre. Perhaps right wingers arent such campaigners or party people, although some are. The whole blogging spectum is moving to the left anyway, ands sevceral sites are group blogs, hich are not such hard work.
