Trimming the Fat

It is excellent to see that National is not just going to focus on revenue, ie tax cuts, but also spending.

One should never let the public think that cutting spending is always bad, and that it means less services for example. There is a plethora of waste in the state sector which has grown by 20% under Labour. The $120 million on mainly community education scams is just the start.

Rick Barker responded saying “I’ve never been to a hospital yet where they tell me they’ve got too many doctors or nurses” which is true but every nurse and doctor I know does say there are far too many managers and bureaucrats in the hospitals and ministry.
