Shoot the sub-editor
A NZ Herald sub-editor has supplied a headline of “Marriage celebrants ‘shun’ civil unions“.
I read the article expecting to find that very few marriage celebrants had signed up to be civil union celebrants, but in fact this was not the case. The advert asking for celebrants only went out this weekend, and the story is based purely on one celebrant’s belief not many would apply, a view disagreed with by another celebrant.
So the headline is totally wrong. There has been no shunning. They could have said predicted to shun which would be a bit closer.
