Powerline on CBS

Powerline, Time Magazine’s blog of the year for their role in the CBS sage, has finally blogged on the report, having waited until they had read it all.

Generally they find the report very good, but they make a strong case that the report could easily have concluded political bias was clearly a factor in the story.

They quote from one CBS e-mail which said “What if there was a person who might have some information that could possibly change the momentum of an election but we needed to get an ASAP book deal to help get us the information?”

So CBS saw this story as helping change the momentum of an election, and was willing to help get Burkett a book deal, and this is not political bias?

Some still claim the memos were fake but accurate. Power Line puts paid to much of this noting real memos showed Bush actually volunteered to be posted to Vietnam, and that there was no waiting list for the Guard.
