A great idea

The official campaign for private donations in the US to help tsunami victims is inspired by having Clinton and Bush 41 head it.

This gives it huge profile, massive media attention in the regions they campaign in, and I am sure will result in tens of millions if not over a hundred million extra.

I was thinking last night what else we could do in NZ, and a thought whihc occured to me was how great it would be if TVNZ would schedule a 24 hour telethon to raise funds. I am sure the entire country would get behind it and it would raise well over $10 million. Yes it would be a logistical nightmare to organise in say ten days, but there would be no shortage of volunteers.

UPDATE: It seems Australia is having a Telethon with all three commercial TV networks joint producing it, in a historic first.
