Whenuapai Airport

Cabinet is due to make a decision on whether to turn Whenuapai Air Base into a commercial airfield.

If, as reported in the NZ Herald, the Government is sceptical, that is a good thing.

I think it hasn’t got a chance in hell of being comercially viable. Auckland is a tiny city on the wolrd stage compared to those which have more than one airport.

Yes driving to Manukau Airport is a pain, but the answer is better motorways, not a second airport.

John Key is a very smart guy and if as the local MP, he is saying he doesn’t support it (a rare principled stand by a local MP not to support something stupid just because it is popular locally) then I really doubt the numbers add up
