Gambling Laws

I am not a fan of all these stupid gambling laws. Prohibiting 98% of NZers from betting on something because 2% may have a problem is bad public policy.

It is just silly one has a state monopoly on betting with the TAB. It is silly one can bet on the UK and US elections but not on our own, for example.

The latest law changes are going to cut the amount of funding for sports, arts and charity by $28 million to $48 million.

In my view the only role of the state should be to set policies around disclosure and fairness, and then let people spend their money as they want to.
