It is now official

Kerry conceded a short while ago, having realised how bad he would look to hold out for days, with such a very slim hope of closing the gap.

UPDATE: Bush is about to do his re-acceptance speech. Cheney family on stage. Bush family just walked in. Crowd going wild. The commentators are saying that the Republican Party of Ronald Reagan has just become the Republican party of George W Bush. He has won three elections in a row, including the mid-terms rout, and like in Australia has a legislative majority that probably can not be over-turned for at least a couple of elections.

Bush thanking in turn Kerry, his family, Cheney and his campaign team and supporters. I think Karl Rove got the biggest cheers 🙂
