I think Waipareria Trust Chairman, Eynon Delamere, may have done John Tamihere more harm than help in trying to defend the $195,000 by saying it wasn’t all a golden handshale, but also “for some things that we wanted him to achieve in Parliament”.

This actually makes things look even worse in my opinion. As much as the public do not like golden handshakes, they do not like the idea of an MP being paid by an outside party to achieve things in Parliament for that outside party, instead of their constituents.
