Tax Cuts

NZPA reports that once again Dr Cullen is refusing to consider tax cuts.

His attitude reminds me of a quote from Yes Minister, talking about the Treasury saying something like “Oh they regard it as their money, not your money, so never favour giving it back”.

A $7.4 billion surplus is staggeringly large. Remember when Labour came into office state income was only $34.8 billion. Perhaps the question to Dr Cullen should be, can he name any level of surplus at which he would agree to tax cuts?
