So much for unity

After the disaster election result, if looked like Australian Labor would keep its unity and unite behind Latham, with the spin being he had done the best job possible.

But as one can read, it is all falling apart. Six front benchers have already stood down, and a seventh is on the verge. Former leader Gough Whitlam has conceded Labor can not win the next election now, and the incoming national president has attacked the election strategy.

In another story detailing the factional fighting for positions, one Labor MP compared it to fighting over deckchairs on the Titanic. An astute man.
