$95,000 cash

In John Tamihere’s final month at Chief Executive of Waipareira Trust, six cheques were made out to cash totalling $95,000.

The SFO has been called in to investigate. The man who authorised the cheques, Mike Tolich, is currently John Tamihere’s Electorate Chair for Labour.

It appears that none of the companies had been at the addresses listed on the invoices, possessed GST numbers or were limited-liability firms, and the invoices of the different companies had been typed in the same font and type and some had similar spelling errors.

Very very very messy.
