National’s plans
The SST also has an interesting interview with Don Brash where he outlines some thoughts on health policy, MMP, future reshuffles, campaign targets and potential coalitions.
The headline and lead sentence state “I’ll quit as leader if we lose next election: Brash” and “Don Brash says he will quit as National Party leader if he fails to lead the party to victory at the next election.”
However I can;t see in the article that he actually said that. He agrees a loss, “could well” be the end of his leadership and “If I can’t [win], I am dispensable – and I absolutely accept that.”
But that is quite different from saying he will definitely quit if he loses. Would be useful to get clarification of exactly what he did say, as the above quotes can apply to all leaders (except Winston who is leader for life).
