Helping constituents
MPs often tell me that the best part of the job is being able to right wrongs done to individual constituents.
I can relate to that, as when I was on the University of Otago Council, the most rewarding part was being on the Appeals Board which dealt with some awful cases of academic injustice to students and could put them right.
One of the MPs who has been best at helping win justice for constituents (from all over NZ) is Rodney Hide. He has details on his blog about the handing over of $17,500 to Ross Lynneberg who was a POW held by Japan, and not paid as the Allies thought he was dead.
Nice to see a happy ending.
