Cloning
The NZ Herald reports on the so called cloning bill.
I’m pretty comfortable with the ban on human cloning and also on creating human-animal hybrids (even though a hybrid of Phil Goff and a strutting peacock would be interesting to see if it would be any different to just Goff).
I’m more open to parents being able to genetically select embryos. If one says it is okay to modify to prevent serious genetic disorders, then is it much of a step to also be able to plug for a tall boy or say a small nosed girl?
The bit about requiring children conceived with fertility treatment to be told the nature of their conception seems rather bizarre. I’d rather not have my parents tell me such a thing (if I was artifically conceived), unless they thought it was appropriate.
