Having been forced to review and justify the the ethnic component of operational funding in schools, he came out yesterday and quite nastily threatened to axe or restrict the extra funding for isolated rural schools as part of the same review.
This cheap attempt to try and slash rural school funding and blame it on National so backfired angering rural communities, that by today he was saying that his comments could mean extra funding for rural schools.
Hard to see how threatening an income or needs test can be read as meaning extra funding. George Orwell would be proud.
